چکیده
Using high-strength steel for offshore structures with a yield stress of 500 MPa, this study evaluated the distribution characteristics welding residual in thickness direction under influence constrained conditions during using cutting, neutron diffraction, and contour methods. Welding inevitably occurs impacts fracture stability structures. As better reflects effects phase transformation, behavior is known to differ from that general steel. This fabricated fully unconstrained specimens them identical evaluate according constraints on welds. The results indicated maximum tensile specimen occurred first layer weld joint, while last joint. Additionally, was larger. Although some errors values depending measurement method, both methods applied exhibited nearly distributions. Meanwhile, angular deformation about 6° specimen, we considered decreased owing occurrence deformation. generally degree stress. When greater than occurs, it changes plastic range appears form angular, longitudinal, lateral Under condition, reduced appear around 42% compared at time, approximately occurred. Therefore, estimated an distortion 2.4° as 100 MPa decreases.

متن کاملProblems in using a comb sample as a stress-free reference for the determination of welding residual stress by diffraction
Precise measurement of a stress-free reference lattice parameter is vital in the determination of residual stress by diffraction techniques using /2-based analyses. For the evaluation of the residual strain profile in fusion-welded material, it is particularly important to correct the measured strain point-by-point by a stress-free reference for each spatial location across the weld. This is ...
متن کاملResidual Stress Mapping in Welds using the Contour Method
The contour method, a newly-invented sectioning technique for residual stress measurement, has the potential to measure the cross-sectional residual stress profile of a weld in a simple and time-efficient manner. In this paper we demonstrate the capability of the contour method to measure cross-sectional residual stress profiles, which are compared with neutron diffraction measurements and show...
متن کاملResidual Stress Measurement of Laser-Engineered Net Shaping AISI 410 Thin Plates Using Neutron Diffraction
In an attempt to relate the laser-engineered net shaping (LENS) process parameters, laser power and laser travel speed, to the quality of LENS-produced parts, strain measurements were taken at several predetermined points within seven LENS AISI 410 thin plates using the neutron diffraction method. The residual stresses at these points were then calculated using the measured strain values to asc...
متن کاملResidual Stresses Measurement in Hollow Samples Using Contour Method
Residual stresses are created usually undesirably during manufacturing processes, including casting, welding, metal forming, etc. Residual stresses alone or in combination with other factors can cause the destruction and fracture of components or significant decline in their service life. Therefore, it is crucial to measure the residual stresses. Contour method is a destructive testing method c...
